“Notes from a Grandmother”

Lotus Flower Rebirth“Notes From a Grandmother”

Memories of Jacqueline Lee

lie always in my soul.

Born on a February day

and only one hour old.

Born at a time when hearts

are often known to embrace.

Born,  the still, small cupid’s mouth

mid the Valentines and the lace.

Born to sing and dance and laugh,

I often see her smiling face;

the center of some paper heart

mid the Valentines and the lace.

On Jacqueline’s grave lies a baby’s toy;

a gift from the heart of her mother.

A gift to one small, sleeping soul

from the so gentle soul of another.

And, like many a pain-scarred love,

that memory is gently placed;

the flower pressed among pages

mid the Valentines and the lace.
