The Music of My World

The Music of My World

There’s tenor in my baby’s forceful cry
when, in the dawn, I hear her hungry tones.
Libretto in my larking lover’s sighs
that flutter past in rapid racing moans.

Not all the music in my world is heard.
Some singers wing in worlds beyond my ear.
Infinity of melody_ that bird
who echoes to his mate alarm and fear.

Oh, world of sound and melody once sung
there’s endless beat of joy among her chart
where breathless high vibrato here is hung.
Refrain: that endless beating of my heart.

And all the creatures of my world a choir
whose song is lifted with their soul’s desire.
