“I Am Born”
My memory is bathed in shadow; born
from but a speck within my mother’s world.
I grow; become amazing grace and torn
from outer space to other places hurled.
Bare tadpole; swim to grab appointed shore
and reaching for my mouth, remain with mum
with gift from other spaces grateful for
that unexpected solace of my thumb.
Cocooned and wrapped in love I hear her call;
she rocks my body; cradled as I sleep.
I hear her beating heart with mine so small;
remember all her songs that I must keep.
A mystery from many atoms blown
I’m filled with awesome wonder once I’m home.
